Uma Sankar Fabrics is a 3rd generation family owned mill. Since 1945, USF has been providing quality fabrics to the US and European markets. USF is a specialist in vertical production of yarn dyed cotton woven fabrics. USF controls the complete process from raw cotton to finished fabric. Quality fabric production has been a key to their success. Starting with buying the finest raw cotton, spinning the combed yarns, dying in stainless steal cabinets, and finally weaving the fabric. After weaving, the fabric is mill washed to assure a minimum of shrinkage. Then the fabrics are tested for tear strength, color fastness (in washing and to light) and shrinkage. All the fabrics must pass minimum AATCC standards for the US. And finally, the fabric is inspected visually to make sure there are no weaving flaws.

The mill is situated in southern India in a weaving village just outside the city of Erode with offices in Chennai (formerly Madras).
